Associate Vice President / Vice President of Finance, Global Enterprise and Mobility

Viasat is seeking a new team member to lead the finance function for its Global Enterprise and Mobility (“GEM") business. GEM provides broadband connectivity, hardware and related services for mobile applications, including commercial airlines, business jets and ships/boats, and fixed enterprise applications in oil and gas and other market verticals across a growing global footprint. This role will support the President of GEM on all financial matters within the business and have a dual reporting relationship with the head of finance for global broadband services.


Job Responsibilities
  • Provide management with financial and analytical support to assess potential acquisitions, partnerships and other contractual relationships; lead financial due diligence efforts and deal term development
  • Support assessment of and entry into new market verticals and geographic markets
  • Coordinate all aspects of accounting including monthly close process, financial audits and tax / statutory reporting, working closely with centralized US and international accounting and finance teams
  • Lead long-range (5 to 10 year) planning with business area, corporate and segment leadership; perform internal and external benchmarking to establish targets and processes to track results
  • Direct budget and forecast processes (full P&L and capital spending) to drive performance in alignment with growth objectives
  • Design, develop and run monthly / quarterly management reporting dashboards and packages (both financial and key performance indicator); host review forums and handle action item resolution
  • Handle cash flows; establish strategies and operating procedures to optimize working capital
  • Develop and implement strategies to minimize the impact of foreign currency risk
  • Direct regular and ad hoc analysis to assess customer and product economics, bandwidth yield of service offerings, pricing proposals and other new business opportunities
  • Participate in selection and oversight of financial systems and other vendor-provided services; collaborate with other leaders to ensure harmonization of back-office systems and processes
  • Assist with transfer pricing and other tax planning strategies in conjunction with corporate team
  • Partner with internal audit to handle / improve financial controls and ensure compliance with SOX requirements
  • Run operational finance functions including billing, payments and collections with corporate / segment finance, business and technology teams
  • Support the digitization and automation of reporting and business processes to reduce costs and improve efficiency
  • Build and develop the GEM finance team as operations expand; optimize structure to best support team objectives

Requirements
  • 15+ years of multifaceted experience in finance, accounting or related positions
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or other quantitative area
  • Knowledge of US GAAP / IFRS
  • P&L management experience in a public multinational company
  • Wide-ranging knowledge of financial valuation and modelling techniques
  • Dynamic communication and team building skills; ability to inspire team members to deliver outstanding results!
  • Experience leading geographically diverse teams
  • Experience managing external consultants and business process organizations; ability to optimize use of resources to meet business and financial commitments
  • Strategic and analytical approach
  • Strong ambition and an ability to deal with ambiguity while working towards results
  • Proven track record of standing alone and not shying away from difficult or unpopular positions
  • Flexibility and ability to “shift gears" frequently; as the GEM business continues to expand, focus will vary from tactical day-to-day operations management to sophisticated long-term strategy considerations...frequently!
  • ERP system knowledge
  • Experience with data analytics tools, methodologies and dashboarding / visualization applications
  • Ability to travel up to 20%, including international, as business needs require


Preferences
  • Prior experience at the VP level is preferred
  • Advanced degree / CPA CFA designation(s) preferred
  • B2B communications service and hardware business experience
  • Oracle ERP / Hyperion Planning experience strongly preferred
