We are seeking a Benefits Specialist to assist with coordinating various employee benefits programs, such as group health, flexible spending accounts, dental and vision, accident and disability, life insurance, leaves of absence, 401(k), wellness benefits, etc. Assures compliance with all applicable state and federal legislation. Responsibilities include explaining benefits and assisting in the business development and planning processes with service providers. Provides benefit plan interpretation and assistance to employees, HRIS representatives, and managers. Presents information to inform and educate management. Serves as a liaison with benefit carriers in business planning and benefit program interpretation. The Benefit Specialist must be comfortable managing multiple priorities simultaneously, is laser focused on accuracy, and is continuously looking for opportunities to improve and automate processes. Main responsibilities:

  • Audits eligibility, limitations, and restrictions of plan participation and maintains compliance with both plan provisions and government requirements.
  • Ensure data integrity with employee benefits filing systems and ensures benefits changes are accurately recorded in Workday for payroll deduction.
  • Coordinates the design and communication of annual benefit enrollment materials.
  • Assist employees with health, dental, life and other related benefit claims and enrollment questions
  • Responsible for data vital to complete government compliance activities (5500s, 1095s, audits, etc.), employee mailings, vendor billings, coordinating data collection and updating numerous reports for management.
  • Leads resolution of administrative issues with the carrier representatives.
  • Assists with administering COBRA compliance.
  • Compiles, analyzes and reports benefit data including employee benefit plan and financial for strategic planning, evaluation and best practices.
  • Conducts research on current benefit trends and regulatory/legislative requirements and presents finding and recommendations to leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Previous experience with employee benefits and applicable laws. (3 years minimum)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Adept with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software (i.e. Excel).


  • Experience with Workday
  • Customer Service experience
