Job Responsibilities

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Benefits Specialist to join our team. As a Benefits Specialist your contributions will ensure that Viasat’s Benefits as part of our Total Rewards program can be effectively administered. Your efforts will help maximize employee success and overall well-being. More specifically, you will:

  • Maintain employee benefits filing systems and ensure benefits changes are entered appropriately for payroll deductions and benefit administration
  • Evaluate and propose updates to policies and programs related to benefits, leaves of absence, disability, and/or workers' compensation administration
  • Assist employees with health, dental, life and other related benefit claims and enrollment questions in addition to partnering with our third-party support resource
  • Complete various benefits reporting requirements and audits and processes benefit plan billing needs
  • Conduct research on current benefit trends and regulatory/legislative requirements and presents finding and recommendations to leadership.
  • Lead resolution of administrative issues with the carrier representatives.
  • Assist P&C in obtaining statistics and information in renewal process of any group health, life and retirement plans that benefit the company and employees.
  • Partner with leave of absence manager to assist with inquiries into leave and disability events, benefits, and options available to employees.
  • Develop, track, and continually update internal reporting and employee communications for leaves of absence, disability, and/or workers' compensation administration.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned including but not limited to the above.

  • Previous experience with employee benefits and applicable laws. (2 years minimum)
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Experience with Workday or other HRIS
  • Customer Service experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
