Job Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer on the Global Enterprise Applications team, you will be working on software that is used every day by users and future software solutions that solve some of the most pressing problems in the company. One of our goals is to help Viasat scale at a global level by providing software solutions.


5+ years of experience with commercial software development in building distributed applications and systems
Programming experience with different languages such as Python/Java/JavaScript in a Linux development environment
Broad range of technology interests across different disciplines including computer and system architecture, web applications, performance analysis, distributed systems design, testing and verification technologies, data processing, cloud computing, and networking
Strong understanding of API design and development
Ability to work on distributed remote agile teams with a high degree of self-motivation and ability to work independently
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to drive interaction with customers, peer engineers, and project managers
Experience with or willingness to learn agile methodologies (SCRUM, Kanban), modern software development environments and DevOps practices
Experience with algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis and software design
Employ machine learning techniques where applicable
BA/BS degree or equivalent experience


Expertise in designing, analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems
Experience building enterprise grade APIs
Familiar with using data integration / ETL tools such as Informatica 
Full stack development experience or an interest and ability to learn
Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with a strong sense of ownership and drive
Enterprise software integration and test automation
Deployments into AWS environments
CI/CD technologies such as Jenkins and CodeBuild
Cloud platforms including AWS (EC2, ECS, RDS, etc.)
Web service technologies including Django, NGINX, Celery, ReactJS
