Job Responsibilities

As a Business Intelligence Analyst, you are responsible for researching and analyzing the market, competitor, and customer landscape. You have an analytical mindset as well as a deep interest in how the market environment impacts business growth at Viasat. This position requires creativity and drive, an ability to find meaning and association that others can’t, and deep knowledge of research methods. Using statistical analyses you’ll uncover the unexpected within the expected patterns in our data. The Business Intelligence Analyst will find the most effective ways to share data in dashboards, presentations, and written reports-to suit the need and the audience. Core to this position is the ability not just to conduct the research, but to extract the information that helps Viasat make the best business decisions -- transforming data and research into specific insights and recommendations, and persuasively representing that work to internal clients -- are keys to success in this role.

The successful candidate will deliver data insights and written actionable advice in reports derived from relevant primary/secondary research, benchmarking tools, maturity assessments, user generated content, formatted and unformatted data sets, as well as other data sources, to assist Viasat with product management, marketing, and business development strategies. 

Review and validate market, competitive, and customer data as it is collected
Help create or discover new data procurement and processing programs
Create new business intelligence services and address emerging market research needs
Create and maintain Tableau dashboards, analyze trends and identify outliers 
Assist in the implementation of new data analysis methodologies
Review research files to ensure integrity of data collection and utilization
Help develop infrastructure around data services, including discovery, use and management of locally created and externally available statistical data, and create data visualization projects
Ensure data quality through review and validation 
Effectively interpret and communicate intelligence/research findings, and make recommendations based on those findings, across all relevant organizations.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field; experience and knowledge is critical
  • Data analysis and data journalism qualifications a plus
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills a must for this role
  • Passion for research, analysis and insight generation, text and graphics
  • Exceptional analytical skills; ability to apply conceptual models, recognize patterns, and draw and defend conclusions
  • 5 yrs. experience in related field 
  • Ability to distill quantitative and qualitative data into important, relevant ''so whats'' for Product Development & Product Management Leaders, Marketing Leaders, and Tech CEO level audiences
  • Strong understanding of and experience in developing foundational and innovative quantitative data assets
  • Good understanding of tech industry markets and dynamics
  • Experience with Alteryx, Qualtrics, Tableau, R, Juno, Python, SQL, ESRI, and related data visualization /analysis tools
