Job Responsibilities

Defining, developing and validating creative standards, policies, and solutions to meet business needs for functional, security, and regulatory requirements of software operating in virtualized and cloud-based environments
Collaboration with internal IT and ViaSat business areas to establish a global data management and analytics framework
Automating software solutions leveraging tools available in cloud platforms

As a self-motivated team member with excellent communication and organizational skills, you thrive in a fast-paced environment with colleagues across multiple geographic areas and disciplines. Your analytical and critical thinking skills, along with your training and experience in cloud computing, provide you the ability to understand security concerns and risks from both technical and business perspectives and allow you to secure and protect business critical operational systems and our rapidly developing cloud infrastructure. With an eye towards global scalability, you and your team will develop, deploy, and maintain cloud agnostic infrastructure to support Viasat's global operations, manufacturing, and product test footprint.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related Engineering field, or equivalent experience
At least five years of experience with Linux system administration
At least three years of experience developing and deploying Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for a major cloud provider such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
Knowledge of cloud infrastructure, security architectures, and relevant standards
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Proficient with several languages, at least one in {Python, Java, Go, Ruby, Scala }
Strong background in Information Security concepts, secure software design, and network security
Enthusiasm for adapting to new languages and frameworks
Familiar with networking and protocols such as UDP, TCP, HTTP/HTTPS, IPSEC, BGP, VLANs
US Citizenship
Available to travel up to 10%

Preferences

Experience with Amazon Web Services GovCloud
Ability to analyze risks, vulnerabilities, and threats to schedule and remediate security risks
Hands on experience building highly-available, geographically-distributed, dynamically scalable, API-driven services
Understanding of regulations/frameworks (ex: PCI, PII, ISO 27001, NIST 800-171, ITAR, CUI)
Recognized security certifications are highly desirable (CISSP, GIAC, CEH and others)
Experience with agile development methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and related technology, such as GitLab
Experience with modern DevOps toolchains
