Job Responsibilities
Are you a passionate professional with a proven track record who enjoys collaboratively creating strategic and creative business agreements to meet aggressive company business growth goals within the United Kingdom?   Do you thrive on negotiations through all phases across a variety of commercial and government contracts? If this describes you, you may be a great fit for our Commercial Contracts Manager role within the Government Systems Segment. Your task will be to devise and support the production of innovative commercial approaches to drive forward the Viasat business proposition and gain the best value out of constantly changing technology for space, satcom, terrestrial networks and cyber security solutions.
This role will support the UK Commercial Leader :  In the day to day commercial business activities for Viasat UK to include, but not be limited to, proposal management, negotiation and overall contract administration and other related responsibilities such as Non-Disclosure Agreements and Teaming Agreements. You will be expected to understand contract changes and develop change proposals for submission and negotiation with customers.  
You must have the ability to engage with senior procurement officials and from time to time, senior military officers and senior managers within the MoD and within UK contractors of all sizes.  You will examine proposal and contract requirements in detail, including verification of basis of estimates, assumptions, contingencies, compliance, risk mitigation and associated performance related dependencies. You must have experience with subcontracts, supply chain and the engagement of subcontractors and/or suppliers.  You will assist in negotiation of terms and support the monitoring of their performance, as needed.

Key attributes and abilities for a successful candidate:
  • Excellent interpersonal and team engagement skills 
  • Solid understanding of UK DEFCON, public sector and commercial contracting. 
  • Subject matter expertise in contract management principles and techniques.
  • Ability to multi-task on a large number of complex contract issues.
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently, demonstrating sound business judgment.
  • Excellent problem solving, decision making, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to embrace a collaborative, team oriented company culture.
  • Ability to deal confidently and professionally with internal and external customers at all organizational levels.
Requirements
  • Proven in-depth experience of contract management and/or subcontract management experience, including UK DEFCON experience.
  • Fundamental understanding of English Law. 
  • A self-starter and able to think creatively.
  • Skilled communicator who influences and shapes the business.
  • Candidate must have proficiency in drafting contracts, Non-disclosure Agreements, Teaming Agreements, service and supply contracts and negotiations, with a keen eye to recognize and minimize company risk and maximize Viasat’s profitable execution success.
  • Effective organizational skills to perform the required duties in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong negotiation, writing and customer interface skills.
  • Must have or have ability to obtain Security Clearance (SC).
  • Ability to travel, domestically and internationally (nominally <10%)
Preferences
  • Both UK Government and commercial contracting experience
  • MBA and/or Bachelor of Laws/ Relevant Exp.
