Job Responsibilities

Are you a skilled and self-motivated information security leader? Do you enjoy researching new and emerging technologies, keeping abreast of industry trends, and the multifaceted challenges of engineering and integrating new security solutions within your company?

As the Commercial Security Engineering Manager, you will work closely with, and provide leadership to customers, product and engineering teams to plan, execute, and balance security strategies for the Commercial segment of our company.

You have extensive, senior-level security engineering and/or cloud security experience in a fast-paced global company.  You have experience architecting, building, and implementing security solutions which operate at scale in large distributed environments.

This role is customer facing, and successful candidates should be comfortable presenting to both technical and non-technical audiences, possess the ability to convey complex information security concepts, and have the ability to influence and help with strategic planning and problem solving.


  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in service provider company, software as a service, or enterprise IT environments
  • 5+ years of experience managing engineers and developers in hardware and software product areas
  • Demonstrated ability to build and execute strategic roadmaps, balancing challenges of a dynamic environment where requirements are constantly changing
  • Methodical and pragmatic problem-solver who inspires confidence and trust with internal staff, management, and users
  • Ability to assess risk and balance business requirements against necessary security controls
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure, security architectures, and best practices
  • Security Standards and Frameworks (SANS, NIST, ISO, PCI, SOX, PII, etc.)
  • Strong background in Information Security concepts
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related Engineering field (or equivalent experience)
  • Technical experience in several or more of the following:
    • Understanding of DevOps, CI/CD and automation
    • Securing public and private cloud technologies
    • Vulnerability scanning and management
    • Intrusion detection and prevention tools
    • Penetration testing techniques, tools and methodologies
    • Network protocols, network traffic analysis and packet inspection
    • Understanding of DDoS attacks and mitigation
    • Software development or test automation skills to build and improve security tools and automation platforms


  • Knowledge of satellite communications systems and terminals
  • Experience in an ISP environment
  • Experience with agile or similar software development lifecycle development methodologies
  • Experience with modern DevOps toolchains
  • Familiarity with OpenStack, AWS, GCP, and/or Azure
  • Recognized industry or security certifications
  • Ability to obtain US Secret and above clearance
