Job Responsibilities

As a Communication Signal Processing Engineer at Viasat, you will propose concepts to solve customer problems.  You will help implement the system along with other system engineers by leveraging technology assets across ViaSat and our partners.  The products and systems you will help define are in SIGINT, RADAR, and communication applications and will incorporate signal processing techniques such as MIMO, space time adaptive processing, and other interference mitigation approaches.  You will help build system solutions to solve a wide range of radar and communication problems.  You will work with interdisciplinary teams including Systems, Software, RF circuits, hardware engineers, and others. 

Requirements

  • 5+ years applied signal processing experience using MATLAB or analogous modeling tools.
  • Demonstrated experience in random signal processes, communication theory and spectral analysis
  • Strong analytic/mathematics background with experience in system modeling, simulation, analysis and Simulink HDL coder implementation
  • Proven ability to develop, characterize, and provide technical implementation oversight for signal processing solutions in communications and/or radar systems
  • Solid communication skills - both verbal and written.  Must be comfortable developing and presenting briefings
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • US Government position.  US Citizenship required
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance or ability and willingness to obtain security clearance within 6 months of hire
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
Preferences

  • M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience writing discrete-time simulations in MATLAB, C/C++, or Python
  • Solid experience with C/C++ real-time algorithm optimization
  • Experience developing algorithms targeting GPGPU implementations (CUDA, OPENCL)
  • Knowledge of RF fundamentals
  • Experience with Space-Time Adaptive Processing (STAP)
  • AESA/phased array, Radar, SIGINT, or EW experience
  • Proven experience developing firmware (Verilog or VHDL)
  • Working knowledge of modern FPGA architectures
  • Experience with version control software (Git)
  • Experience working with lab test equipment
  • Experience with script development
