As the Director, Business Development you will be responsible for the Business Development, Sales and Marketing for Viasat’s Ground C4 Networks and Services Business Area. In this role, you will establish and increase the market share by establishing strong relationships with customers and eco system partners. Your extensive experience in collaborating with executive teams and developing and executing strategic initiatives will enable our success. Some of the key responsibilities will include:

Team Player: We are looking for a person that understands how to adapt their style to be consistent with Viasat’s goals and values, and operate in the team environment, interfacing with engineers, program managers, key business unit managers, and executive management in the customer’s business, as well as at Viasat. We require a person that is self-motivated and can function independently, and knows how to work well in cross functional, geographically diverse teams, dividing responsibilities, and coordinating actions.

Business Growth: We are looking for an individual that can develop a deep understanding of customer needs and constraints, who works actively with his/her customers to influence requirement generation and acquisition strategies and follow through to awards. Candidates must have a strong motivation to pursue and ability to achieve business growth, including understanding and contributing to business area strategy, understanding and solving customer problems, helping to define product roadmaps, develop business models, understanding how to combine Viasat technology and capabilities to address customer problems.

The Ground C4 Networks and Services Business Area is transitioning from hardware sales to a service provider business model and requires a candidate who can offer the right value proposition to each customer in the connectivity ecosystem.

Requirements:

·        10+ years of technical business development experience (government customer and/or partner experience preferred)

·        Established customer contacts within US Military organizations such as DISA, US Army (PEO C3T, PEO EIS, etc), COCOMS, others

·        Broad understanding of technologies and ability to communicate that to the marketplace; particularly in the field of satellite communications

·        Ability to educate customers on the use of our products, technology, and services and the advantages Viasat offers

·        Familiarity with DoD missions and CONOPS and the federal purchasing/acquisition process in the US and in international defense markets

·        Ability to directly and effectively counter competing technologies and opposing business strategies in real time

·        Ability to identify potential industry partners, suppliers and teammates, articulate how they enhance our position, and facilitate a dialog with them at the appropriate time/level

·        Major proposal and program management experience

·        Ability to travel 50% - 75% of the time including international travel

·        Bachelor's Degree in relevant technical discipline

·        US government related position. US citizenship required

Preferences:

·        Retired/ex US Army

·        Active Secret or above Clearance (or have held an active secret or above clearance within the past two years)
