Job Responsibilities

The Manager of Line Maintenance is a key member of Viasat’s Commercial Airline Support team, which helps deliver and maintain Viasat’s best-in-class “Viasat In-Flight Connectivity (IFC)” services to our Commercial Airline customers. The Manager of Line Maintenance also plays a critical part in the maintenance and repair of the Viasat onboard In-Flight Connectivity solution.  This position requires contributing to shared knowledge, documentation, training of peers and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a background in commercial aircraft systems, specifically electrical and avionics equipment troubleshooting and testing. The critical nature of the work requires good judgment, initiative and specialized technical expertise to understand problems and develop recommended solutions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Positively leading and ensuring safety, compliance, security and quality
  • Leading and directing the proper application of company policies and procedures, maintenance procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Overseeing and providing technical support for personnel performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on the IFEC systems.
  • Facilitating and ensuring close communication with Line Maintenance Stations, Maintenance Control, Quality Control, and Materials departments on issues that impact maintenance or maintenance schedules.
  • Coordinating with the Line Stations and Materials Department to ensure timely availability of parts, equipment and hardware.
  • Ensuring all tooling and test equipment required to maintain the IFEC system is available and up to date.
  • Ensuring all work accomplished is done in accordance with all company, airline partner and FAA regulations.
  • Assisting in the development of a maintenance and preventative maintenance program.
  • Coordinating and executing all local badge and access permit requirements with the airport authority.
  • Participating with and leading the team to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair any discrepancies related to the aircraft in accordance with approved technical data.
  • Monitoring the maintenance schedule and line maintenance footprint to assure that maximum productivity is achieved in the most cost effective manner.
  • Continuously evaluating resources and ensuring that the required personnel, tooling, and equipment are available to execute the maintenance mission. 
  • Ensuring a comprehensive review and/or check of aircraft paperwork and records are properly completed at each station on a continuous basis.
  • Measuring the performance of each station to ensure assigned work is performed as agreed upon each day.
  • Performing other tasks as assigned by the Director of Airline Operations.

Requirements
  • 5+ years of commercial aircraft maintenance experience
  • 3+ years of experience in a supervisory/management role.
  • Must have a clear understanding of typical Part 121 and Part 145 maintenance manuals
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50% of the time.
  • Strong Computer skills required including Microsoft Office.
  • Proven experience in establishing and maintaining line maintenance stations required
  • The ability to work with and understand maintenance manuals, maintenance programs, reliability programs, and interpret FAA regulations.
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Airframe & Powerplant License
  • Hold a valid U.S. Passport
  • This is an FAA safety sensitive position. Participation in our Drug-Alcohol program is required.
  • Ability to obtain AOA airport badges
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50% of the time.
  • Must be a US Citizen 

Preferences
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Strong knowledge of FAR’s and regulatory manuals.
