Job Responsibilities
An experienced engineer who can support updating of existing designs and drawing packs for a number of complex projects. The role will be responsible for:
  • Designing and implementing electro-mechanical packaging, machined enclosures, sheet metal, PCB profiles, manufacturing tooling jigs and injection moulding
  • Creating and updating part models, general assemblies and drawings controlled within a PDM, along with BOMs and associated release documentation

Requirements
  • Full development life-cycle experience
  • Ability to apply mechanical requirements from system/sub-system requirements
  • Mechanical design of enclosures
  • Generation of component and assembly drawings
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks 3D CAD tool
  • Working knowledge of materials and physical properties
  • Appreciation of mechanical manufacturing processes, such as machining, sheet metal and moulding
  • Appreciation of manufacturing techniques for both high and low volume
  • Actively participate in the procurement of mechanical items for prototypes & initial production runs
  • Configuration management and version control
  • Be IT literate in MS Office Word, Excel, etc
  • Have excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Be able to multi-task and work to deadlines
  • Effective collaboration and positive behaviour
  • Effective and flexible team player
  • Ability to work independently
  • HNC/Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent

Must hold a UK passport and be capable of obtaining (or already hold) security clearance to work on UK Government projects

Preferences
Knowledge of one or more of the following would be an advantage:
  • Design for security
  • Thermal Modelling
  • Familiar with MIL Standards and DEFSTAN
  • DOORs for requirements capture/management
  • Design for severe and harsh environments


In addition, from time to time, you may be asked to undertake other tasks and responsibilities not covered above in order to achieve project or business objectives.
