As a Network Platform Engineer, you will work with an outstanding team to innovate on a data-driven strategy and run the complete network eco-system on the fast-growing network of a global communication service provider. The Viasat terrestrial network is comprised of a sophisticated transport network of private and public high capacity data centers, multi-tenant residential and mobile applications. This requires us to innovate, design, and develop in the world of SDN, IBN, NFV, and Network Virtualization.
Job Responsibilities
In this role, the successful candidate will handle all networking data sources in both static and dynamic manners collect, manipulate, and correlate them for insights and discoveries. You will also build and deliver network data benchmarks for business needs. Viasat’s position as both a service provider and equipment manufacturer allows you to experience the whole life cycle of networking software development and product innovation - all the way from design to deployment, from incubation to implementation. You will partner with other senior architects and engineers to lead all aspects of the data-related eco-system around the terrestrial network, specifically in the areas of data collection and distribution, analyses, test and validation, and benchmark delivery.
Requirements
- 4+ years’ programming experience in any of the following languages of Python, C++, Java, Golang, JavaScript/TypeScript
- 4+ years’ experience in software development using Cloud Managed Services – AWS/GCP/Azure
- 2+ years’ experience with CI/CD pipeline, version control, and test-driven software development.
- Good Knowledge of networking protocols, such as BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VxLAN
- Knowledge of apps deployment using containers, Docker, Kubernetes
- Demonstrate an ability to apply research results to products and services on Viasat’s terrestrial networks.
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment
- Can-do attitude, willingness to learn
Preferences
- Knowledge of network automation and orchestration, such as OpenConfig, RESTconf/Netconf, and YANG.
- Understand network performance analysis and evaluation methodologies, such as theoretical analysis, simulation, and measurement.
- Familiar with big data technologies, i.e., Hadoop, Impala, MangoDB, TSDB, Redis, Kafka.
- Familiar with data science, natural language processing, computer vision, machine learning, or related fields.
- Exposure to natural language processing technologies, especially on topics of question answering, conversational AI, and information extraction.
- Familiar with machine learning technologies, i.e. image classification, reinforced learning, unsupervised learning, CNN, RNN.
- Familiar with using open source toolkits on real-world problems: TensorFlow, PyTorch, SciKit-Learn, OpenCV.
