Job Responsibilities

As a Part-time/Permanent Corporate Accountant at Viasat, you will be integral in supporting the monthly and quarterly close process and help fill the gap during peak times. You will support our general ledger, fixed asset and revenue recognition teams. You will prepare routine and standard journal entries, quarterly schedules, account reconciliations, other analytics and aid in testing procedures.

A typical work week would include two 40-hour weeks out of each month and/or three 40-hour weeks at the end of each quarter.


Requirements
  • 5+ years accounting or relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Heavy prior experience in monthly/quarterly close process
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP, financial statements, and accounting theory
  • Ability to perform recurring tasks monthly independently
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to partner and build relationships with others within and outside the accounting team
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel
  • Self-motivated with ability to balance and prioritize competing demands
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity
  • U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residence status required

Preferences
  • CPA
  • Large public company experience
  • ERP system experience (Oracle preferred)
