Job Responsibilities

Viasat is seeking an experienced business process engineer to streamline the S&OP and supply and demand planning process and lead the next generation advanced planning systems implementation. The successful candidate will play an instrumental role in business process analysis and design as Viasat expands its global footprint to supplement its existing space technology leadership. This position will work closely with key business stakeholders, planners and cross functional teams across multiple locations to deliver process improvements. The position will be responsible for assessing and resolving gaps in existing functional process and master data availability and accuracy to enable Viasat plan and implement new processes and systems

As a key member of the Operations Business Process & Technology team, this position will work closely with Planning, Logistics, Procurement, Materials Management, IT and Business Unit functions to roll out process improvements, which will support the S&OP, Supply Planning and Demand Planning functions. Candidates must understand the value of technology in supply chain to improve process control, efficiency, and effectiveness. The successful candidate will bring a wealth of Process and Systems experience, and be able to quickly understand the specific business needs of Viasat.



  • Evaluate processes and systems deployed in the existing footprint
  • Facilitate proposals and analyze fit / gap for all process improvements and changes
  • Perform gap analysis in current functional process and the accuracy and availability of master data to support key planning processes
  • Utilize best practices and prior experience to lead the future systems implementation and rollout phases of advance planning systems and reporting tools
  • Contribute to continuous improvement within the area of responsibility through data analysis and creation of metrics
  • Ability to both lead and act as a member of a team
  • Assist management and planners in the development of procedures and processes which improve Viasat’s ability to meet product system and customer requirements
  • Communicate with peers and supervisors regularly, document work, meetings, and decisions
  • Stay current on business system technologies relevant to supply chain
  • Provide operational analysis and reporting to Operations functional leaders, Programs, and others
  • Provide business leaders with clear awareness of current state process, system capabilities, and future roadmap


Requirements


  • 5+ years of experience in an industrial engineer, business process lead architect/analyst role
  • Working knowledge in one of more top-tier advance planning systems (APS) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
  • Experience in analyzing requirements and performing gap analysis, process design for improving and supporting S&OP, Supply Planning and Demand Planning
  • Understanding of Master Data requirements to support planning processes and systems
  • Understanding of the dependencies of Planning on other functions such as Materials Management, Logistics, Fulfilment and Procurement
  • Understanding of data requirements gathering and ability to translate business requirements from stakeholders to a technical development team
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and effectively engage with individuals at all levels within the organization
  • Change management skills and ability to operate effectively in a fast paced environment
  • Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies
  • Adept at process mapping physical and transactional flows
  • High analytical aptitude capable of interpreting data to identify trends
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining an organized and systematic approach to task completion
  • Bachelor degree in industrial engineering or supply chain. May substitute applicable equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • US Citizenship required
  • Up to 10% travel


Preferences


  • Expertise in implementation and support of APS and ERP systems in a telecommunication / high tech / semiconductor domain
  • Knowledge of reporting and analytical tools, such as Alteryx, Tableau and OBIEE
  • Work experience in an Agile Scrum project management and development environment, and experience with JIRA software
