In this role, you will grow your engineering career as you provide Quality Assurance support for programs, products, and Quality Systems.  This will include reading and understanding customer, military, and industry requirements documents, interpreting dimensional and workmanship requirements from drawings and specifications, authoring and maintaining quality plans and procedures, supporting incoming and source inspection, documenting non-conformances and their resolution, performing internal and external audits and preparing monthly quality reports. Support failure analysis and root cause investigations and report Quality status to management and customers.

Job Responsibilities

With support from supervisor, perform the following:

  • Review product yield and field reliability data for trends and provide analysis and recommendations to business
  • Help drive root cause investigations and process improvement efforts as well as create/implement world class quality practices (i.e. Pareto Analysis, Histograms, Cause & Effect Diagrams, Cpk, etc.) and business tools to help streamline this analysis
  • Contribute and provide input to evaluate quality performance of Viasat products
  • Help coordinate Corrective Action Requests (CARs) and Failure Analysis Requests (FARs) for improvement
  • Support production by conducting and provide analysis on Gage R&R studies, capability studies and Process Failure Modes Effects Analysis
  • Using your strong analytical mind and superior communication skills, you will provide QA technical support on Field reliability issues and Product Yield and Test improvement
  • Review material quality issues and represent QA at Material Review Board
  • Perform QA surveys and audits of present and proposed suppliers and subcontractors to ensure adequate QA systems are implemented and maintained


  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, & Power Point
  • Strong math, statistics and data analysis skills
  • Some exposure in Quality Engineering in support of electronic assemblies including SMT CCAs, Box Build and Test
  • Program or project management experience leading a team


  • Coursework in Statistics, Quality Assurance and Lean Six Sigma
  • Working experience using MiniTab or other statistical software
  • Training in Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing
  • Working knowledge of PLM Tool (Agile) as well as ERP system (i.e. Oracle).
  • Exposure to IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001 soldering standards
  • ASQ Membership and Certification
