You will be working within our Advanced Networking and Cybersecurity team to create next-generation technologies and services that provide secure and resilient communications to the furthest reaches in some of the most challenging operating environments. As a Program Manager, you will manage a spectrum of internal development, capital, and contract programs; across a variety of related technology. You must be able to digest new technology quickly, consensus-build solutions to new challenges, engage with multiple customer groups, and drive execution. You will have the opportunity to support the growth of the business not just through overseeing the development of technology but also through supporting proposal development and customer engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

Overall responsibility for program execution through leadership, program scheduling, financial reporting and budgeting, managing contract deliverables while identifying and mitigating risks, and interfacing with program customers.

You will:

  • Work with business area management in assessing market/product offerings and opportunities, analyze the ability to execute to derived cost/schedule market requirements. Participate in go/no management decisions and proposal development for new products/projects.
  • Display proactive and flexible project-focused dedication, to both delegate to engineering PMs as well as drive down into detail, assisting in areas of weakness.
  • Lead the performance measurement and improvement of our customer’s experience on the Viasat Government Segment.
  • Serve as the primary interface to the customer(s) representing the entire program team and Viasat as a whole.
  • Apply a collaborative/consultative working and leadership style, relying on common sense and personal competence for persuasion and consensus-building.


  • 7+ years’ experience in program management delivering integrated products and software development
  • Experience developing network, security or wireless technologies
  • Experience with Agile development framework and practices
  • Management of co-located team over diverse geographical locations
  • Proven ability to manage proposal efforts and participate in ongoing business development
  • Demonstrated ability of full understanding of Profit/Loss Concepts
  • Experience managing different contract types and risk management practices
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Discipline
  • US Government position.  US Citizenship required
  • Active DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain when administratively feasible


  • BA/BS degree in Engineering (EE, CE, CS)
  • Masters of Business Administration
  • Experience with Government systems and service acquisition
  • Experience with EVMS
  • PMP
  • DoD US Secret Clearance
