As a Colocation Data Centre Deployment Team Member, you will be challenged to think strategically and tactically as we deploy the latest satellite communications network for Viasat-3. The role will be responsible for the deployment of the Backbone and Data Centre installation segment including but not limited to budget, supplier, commercial, quality, schedule, and risk management. The Deployment Team Member will work in support of the Co-Lo Deployment Team Lead. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with other internal teams including the PMO team. You'll track key indicators for program performance, provide analysis and management of the critical paths and events on the program. This will include producing high-level schedules for both internal and external customers for any risk and issues including the development of any recovery plans.

Additionally, you will be required to work collaboratively with other internal teams including Project Manager(s) of other segments of work for the most economic outcome whilst leading suppliers to deliver to their contractual obligations. You will be responsible for reporting strategic key performance indicators of program progress as well as tactical schedule alignment as part of the day-to-day responsibilities.

The work involves running the planning, execution, and completion phases of the backbone optical network installations such as ILAs and ROADMs with multiple fiber and data center contract partners in support of Viasat’s next-generation satellite gateways. The ideal candidate will have experience with end-to-end management of large-scale satellite earth station, cellular or fiber-optic deployment projects. Ability to demonstrate strong project controls for multiple locations, multiple partners, and multi-million-dollar design-build projects.

Job Responsibilities
Identification and evaluation of potential Backbone and Data Center partners and providing recommendations on Total Cost of Ownership assessments.
Assist with contract negotiations with internal teams in procurement, IT, and legal
Collaborate with both internal shared resources and external partners to deliver the design, procurement, and deployment of colocation facilities according to program
Monitor, track, and report the progress of design, procurement, and deployment of colocation facilities activities
Monitor, track and report the progress of the design, site make ready (SMR) works, installation, testing, quality of deliverables, acceptance, and completion of the Data Centre deployment program
Provide support to all phases of installation, integration, and support including technical troubleshooting as required
Identification of any risk and issues to cost, schedule, and quality
Coordinate Data Center SMR works including the delivery of cages, security, rack, and power
Coordinate the rack and stack installation of network and ancillary equipment including configuration, different stages of commissioning, remote integration of networking equipment in all data centers
Forecast project completion costs based on trends including productivity measurements, commitments, scope changes, schedule impacts, equipment cost variance, contract changes, and invoice payments.
Compare forecast versus actual performance and contribute to the analysis and explanation of variances including developing action plans to mitigate cost and schedule delays.
Compile and/or review weekly or monthly governance reports to communicate achievements, performance, and throughput to project partners.
Prepare reports related to cost and scheduling as required.
Perform tasks associated with design, deployment, and commissioning, and integration as directed
Perform project administrative tasks and develop inputs for project cost estimating, budgeting, and scheduling to include purchase requisition development, invoice reconciliation, and project finance and accounting reconciliations.
Contract compliance management
Maintain and update company database(s) (e.g. Sitetracker)

5+ years of relevant project management experience in telecommunications facilities and network installation deployment with a strong emphasis on network deployments, OSP and ISP construction experience, and managing fiber and data center providers
Consistent track record of technical lead in procurement activities such as RFI/RFP and leading design and installation of fiber and data center partners on similar network roll-out deployments
Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel with advanced skills in formulas, functions, and data visualization
Strong communication skills, interpersonal, influencing, management, and leadership skills
Ability to work independently on multiple projects, within a virtual team environment, with competing priorities and tight deadlines.
Strong working knowledge of project management functions and processes including planning/scheduling, cost estimating and cost control, risk and opportunity management, financial and project accounting process, and systems.
MPM and Oracle experience.
Up to 50% overnight travel required. Extended hours as the need arises.

Dark fiber contract management and deployment experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience
PMP certification or equivalent
