As the Project Manager, you will manage large, complex programmes of work primarily in the area of Satellite telecommunications equipment and network design, supply, installation, commissioning, and integration. You have a track record of implementing large complex telecommunications projects including development of programme budgets, establishment of programme plans, process improvement implementation, and stellar customer communication. You will develop and track key metrics for programme performance, provide analysis and management of the critical paths and events on the programme, and produce high level schedules for both internal and external customers.
Job Responsibilities
• Manage large-scale fiber optic networking projects including fiber acquisition, network design, and deployment.
• Manage deployment of infrastructure within multiple data centres
• Manage deployment of satellite infrastructure
• Manage subcontractors for telecommunications infrastructure development.
• Conduct cost and risk-benefit analyses to quantitatively support recommendations
• Work independently on multiple projects, within a virtual team environment, with competing priorities and tight deadlines.
• Establish and manage project financials and schedules to expectation
Requirements
• 5+ years of project management experience with Tier 1 telco and commercial customers managing relationships and complex programmes of work
• Business experience in fiber optic metro or long-haul networks; their operation and associated performance and cost models would be an advantage.
• Business experience in data centres; their operation and associate performance and cost models would be an advantage.
• Satellite experience would be an advantage
• Proficiency in MS Project, MPM, Earned value management, cost and schedule analysis
• Strong communicator able to work effectively with the multi-discipline Viasat teams
• Exceptional customer relationship skills
• Excellent teamwork skills
• Excellent organisational skills
• MPM and Oracle experience
• Up to 25% overnight travel required; extended hours as required
• Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residence required
Preferences
• Bachelor of Engineering, MBA, or equivalent experience
• PMP certification or equivalent
