The Senior Satellite Access Network Engineer is involved in the implementation, support, and maintenance of satellite access networks with a focus on RF and baseband technologies at satellite gateways and with user terminals. The role will manage the performance and configuration of RF and baseband systems and deal with the resolution of day to day issues and faults.  They will ensure the effective resolution of satellite network issues to satisfactorily restore network performance and functionality. This role will work locally in Australia and will form part of the APAC Engineering team.

Job Responsibilities
Participate in and contribute to projects, including design, installation, integration, troubleshooting, and acceptance activities.
Travel to field sites to implement, support, and maintain RF and baseband systems.
Resolve issues experienced in satellite networks operated or supported by Viasat.
Represent the customer’s interest within Viasat to deliver optimal outcomes to Viasat customers.
Proactive management of emerging issues in satellite networks.
Analyze system requirements, identify gaps, and advise on implementable solutions.
Act as an RF and baseband SME towards internal and external customers and partners.
Evaluate and recommend future technology options.
Mentor and support other less experienced engineers.
Manage network incidents by facilitating the acknowledgment, triage, and restoration of network functionality and performance.
System quality analysis by proactively monitoring and identifying quality trends in the customer experience or in the satellite network.
Support of satellite networks operated or supported by Viasat outside or normal working hours as part of established on-call rosters.

Requirements
At least five years of RF and baseband experience.
Experience acting as a customer point of contact.
Good and effective verbal and written communication skills. 
Experience working with local and remote teams.
Good time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
Experienced and competent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Extensive knowledge of satellite ground systems and networks.
Proficient with satellite network engineering tools and applications.
Must be a citizen of Australia.

Preferences
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or related field is preferred.
