Job Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and test service management software solutions targeted at Viasat’s satellite services around the globe
  • Apply detailed technical knowledge of wireless networks and packet management to advance network performance insight design and development activities
  • Use development and continuous deployment techniques to deliver solutions into production networks
  • Work with development and operations teams to establish requirements, use cases, and acceptance criteria
Requirements
  • 8+ years experience in software development including advanced experience with data pipelines/ETL and databases
  • Extensive knowledge of AWS cloud development technologies and best practices
  • High proficiency with Postgres, especially in big data environments
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and documenting scalable software systems in Python, Java, or similar
  • AWS cloud development and design best practices
  • Proficiency with core tenancies of data curation and translation in the context of big data environments
  • Demonstrated experience in creating and maintaining real-time data pipelines
  • Successful collaboration in a high-paced team environment with other developers, managers, and product owners
  • Experience in writing automated unit and integration test cases
Preferences
  • Experience with managing wireless capacity and traffic load
  • Advanced knowledge of Java, AWS Kinesis, AWS Lambda, AWS Batch, Redis, and Postgres
  • Experience with Docker, Git, Splunk, and Jenkins
  • Telecom or related operational service experience, especially wireless networks
  • Financial and business acumen in telecom space

At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience. The starting salary for this position is $177,075 annually, but an offered salary may be higher depending on your skills, qualifications, and experience. This position may also be eligible for other cash or stock incentives, including Viasat’s Employee Stock Purchase Program, which allows Viasat employees to purchase Viasat stock at a discount.
