Software Development Engineer – Networking, Embedded, Datapath

You are capable of software engineering using disciplined software development methods including requirements analysis, use case & user story analysis, high and low level design, implementation and unit test using the C and C++ programming languages, system integration test, deployment monitoring, and sustaining product support, so why not come to Viasat and put these skills to good use? 

You will be a member of the Network Controller and Data Path team working on designing and developing real time, scalable and high-performance overlay network. You will also be responsible for its deployment into cloud-based platform and monitoring of the deployment.

Our team members enjoy working closely with each other utilizing an Agile development methodology. Priorities can change quickly, but our team members are able to stay ahead of deadlines to delight every one of our customers whether they are internal or external to Viasat. Travel up to 15%.

Minimum Required Skills:
- BS CS/EE with 8+ years of experience in networking/telecom/Datacom industry
- Strong experience programming in C/C++ in a Linux embedded environment
- Demonstrated experience in Networking (TCP/IP, OSPF/BGP) protocol development
- Strong hands-on working knowledge of L2/L3 protocols and L4-L7 applications
- Excellent oral and written communication

Preferred Skills:
- SDN/NFV experience is a plus
- Experience in Golang Programming
- Working experience with data path SDKs from Broadcom/Marvel/ARM
- Working experience with Intel DPDK, SRIOV, OVS is a plus
- Working knowledge of Linux Kernel
- Continuous Integration & Deployment (CI/CD) training or experience
- Experience working effectively in Agile Scrum teams
- Knowledge on Network Testing or Network Automation or Network deployment experience
- Knowledge on Switching, Routing, DHCP, IPv4 / IPv6
