Viasat is seeking a new team member to support financial planning and analysis (FP&A) activities within its Global Enterprise & Mobility segment, which provides mobile broadband connectivity and related value-add services to commercial and business aviation, maritime, fixed enterprise, and other mobile markets.

As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will play a critical role by supporting the Finance organization, which supports business area leaders in making strategic and operational decisions through solid financial management and analyses. You will perform thorough and complex ad hoc and recurring financial modelling to implement tactical and strategic business decisions. You will be assigned and lead quarterly financial forecasting, monthly reporting and analysis for our Media and Mobile Applications business; and support our segment’s annual operating plan and long-term strategic plan. You may assist our corporate accounting functions with the month-end close cycle.

Job Responsibilities
  • Finance support for Media and Mobile Applications transactions, cost centers and projects, including monthly actuals to forecast variance analysis, short and long term cost forecasting, and headcount
  • Partner with functional business leads to effectively manage their respective areas and make recommendations for solutions
  • Review and approve cost center and business spends and headcount requests
  • Present analyses and monthly reporting results to segment Finance and Business Leadership
  • Establish and report out on monthly KPI’s
  • Ad Hoc and recurring financial modelling and analysis
  • New customer onboarding and support
  • Works autonomously and proposes creative solutions to help determine methods and procedures

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related area
  • 5+ years "hands-on" Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) experience
  • Experience owning and managing financial forecasts, including P&L and Balance Sheet
  • Strong financial modeling skills (Excel)
  • Systems experience with proficiency with ERP systems, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge of GAAP accounting
  • Ambitious self-starter with strong ability to deal with fast pace environments and ambiguity
  • Superior communication, time management and team building skills as this position will consult with team members across the business area and corporate functions at all levels
  • US Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Resident Status may be required for some projects in which case, verification of such status will be required upon accepting employment.

  • Experience with Oracle and Hyperion/Essbase
  • Project accounting experience
  • Digital Media, e-Commerce or Technology experience
  • MBA
