Viasat UK is looking to recruit an experienced Technical Project Manager who can operate in a fast-paced environment as the leader of a multi-disciplined team designing, developing and testing bespoke secure digital design solutions. The successful candidate will lead all aspects of a challenging and rewarding project that involves requirements elicitation, design, implementation, test and delivery of a secure data storage solution.

Working closely with the Engineering Manager and the Product Delivery Manager, responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and coordinate the project team.
  • Creation and maintenance of project schedule.
  • Development of the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
  • Implement Critical Path methodology.
  • Resource and revenue forecasting.
  • Manage the project action tracker.
  • Manage the project correspondence log.
  • Own the project risk register; identify and quantify risks and opportunities for escalation to the customer and/or the business.
  • Configuration management and change control.
  • Regular customer management and interaction.
  • Monthly Programme Management Reviews with leadership team.
  • Monthly customer status reports.

In addition, from time to time, the successful candidate may be asked to undertake other tasks and responsibilities not covered above in order to achieve project objectives.


  • Demonstrable project management and leadership experience.
  • Full development life-cycle experience.
  • Sound understanding of multi-discipline engineering and quality processes.
  • Knowledge of requirements analysis, capture and management.
  • Experience in using configuration management systems (SVN would be an advantage).
  • Excellent communication skills - both written, verbal and with the ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Effective collaboration and positive behaviour.
  • Effective and flexible leader and team player whilst having the ability to work independently.
  • Highly organised, self-motivated, able to take ownership of project tasks and risks and deliver to time, cost and quality requirements.
  • Able to build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers.
  •  Proficient in MS Office applications, specifically Project and Excel.


  • Design for security experience.
  • Experience of bug tracking applications such as JIRA.
  • Experience of requirements best practice and analysis software such as DOORS.
  • Earned Value Management.


  • Must hold a current PM qualification, eg APMP, PRINCE2.
  • Engineering based degree or equivalent industry experience.
  • Must hold a UK passport.
  • Due to short timescales, candidates must currently hold an active SC clearance.
