Job Overview

Viasat provide secure satellite and wireless networking systems and services that deliver reliable communications beyond the reach of traditional wired networks. We help warfighters and commanders access and share trusted intel from any location to make better decisions.

As a Network Operations Manager at our UK office you will work with our global offices to provide 365/24/7 services to our customer base whilst ensuring delivery of a UK sovereign capability

You will ensure Network SLA’s are met across the product lines, perform Day to Day network performance monitoring and develop and maintain long term network operation strategies that will help enhance and achieve long term goals for the company.  You will manage all communications with customers, prepare reports and resolve technical issues, and will have a hand in training employees within the team and also supervising their performance records.

Skills / Knowledge / Attributes

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT Management or equivalent work experience.

  • 2+ years’ experience in a management role with proven experience in coaching and supervising junior staff

  • Demonstrated experience working on network equipment in an ISP environment, a large NOC or other such company associated with networking.

  • 5+ years’ experience working in a networking environment

  • 2+ years’ experience working in the SATCOM field

  • Solid leadership attributes and proven ability to work as part of a team

  • Basic understanding of AAA platforms such as Radius and/or TACACS.

  • Familiarity working in a data centre environment.

  • Solid leadership attributes and proven ability to work as part of a team

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to convey complex technical information correctly

  • Proven organizational and time management skills

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Previous experience supporting a 24x7x365 operations environment

  • In-depth knowledge of networking and data base fundamentals.

  • Capable of obtaining UK security Clearance

  • Ability to travel up to 10%

  • Effective and flexible team player

  • Ability to work independently

  • Be reliable and hard working

  • Self-motivated and flexible

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

In addition, from time to time, you may be asked to undertake other tasks and responsibilities not covered above in order to achieve project or business objectives.
