The successful Capture & Proposal Content Strategist candidate will have experience in authoring, visualizing, and revising a variety of documents. These documents involve engineering, technology, and space operations for Viasat’s Government Systems customers within the communications and technology industries.

Additional responsibilities will include incorporating graphics, schematics, figures and other visual objects into technical and proposal language within business proposals and whitepapers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) on how to integrate technical solutions, including methodology, approach, and step-by-step procedures, into the narrative and responses to business proposals, Statements of Work (SoW), and/or other requirements
  • Ability to “speak” technical engineering and translate that language into marketing prose and storytelling within our government capture and proposal materials.
  • Build and edit content to documentation
  • Craft sales, marketing, and technical presentation material
  • Work closely with SMEs and graphic designer for the development of graphics to support business proposal narratives
  • Support the development of opportunity capture strategies and plans
  • Participate in planning, writing, review and quality process of proposals
  • Review and/or edit content developed by other members of the team
  • Research and collaborate on strategic opportunities to proactively shape and capture wins
  • Collaborate on customer needs analysis and requirements definition with capture team
  • Adhere to file structures, naming conventions, and other refined processes
  • Participate in continuous improvement by providing innovative ideas for content and workflow solutions
  • Analyze existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities
  • Actively participate in each stage of the capture management and proposal planning process, including strategy meetings, determine how to translate win themes, discriminators, features/benefits, and other strategy element concepts into compliant and compelling narrative


  • Must be familiar with request for proposal (RFP), request for information (RFI) formats
  • An understanding of why some content works and some do not
  • Communication and leadership skills

  • Desktop Publishing skills
  • Strong time management, attention to detail, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Visio
  • Solid understanding of Adobe Acrobat for documentation
  • Ability to work under pressure with integrity and accuracy
  • US citizenship required


  • DoD or US federal agency proposal writing experience for technology, communications and/or space operations
  • APMP Certification – Foundation or more
  • CRM (Customer Relationship Management) application experience
  • Desktop Publishing experience
  • Familiar with/experience in Adobe Creative Cloud (Acrobat, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • SoW writing experience
