As an Insights Analyst for ViaSat’s Field Operations Team, you will be responsible for employing creative methods of interpreting, visualizing, and reporting of operational data. You will collaborate on projects to improve our group's ability to gain key business insights and optimize business decisions. You will work with stakeholders throughout the business to capture requirements and develop relevant reports, dashboards, scorecards, and data visualizations to assist business unit professionals in acquiring insights and promote self-service analytics. As a team, we strive to uncover high-impact business opportunities and develop data-driven recommendations.
In this exciting role, you will:
- Perform key performance indicator (KPI) analysis by extracting information using SQL from data sets and identifying correlations and patterns, generating data-driven insights to guide Field Operations strategic management.
- Own development and maintenance of self-service analytical Tableau dashboard tools for Field Operations and executive stakeholders.
- Develop, maintain, automate, and analyze regular KPI operational reports, as well as ad hoc reporting requests for Field Operations and executive stakeholders.
- Monitor data source, report, and dashboard quality; resolve data deficiencies as needed.
- Perform analysis of Field Operations and cross-functional projects, programs, and operations; develop new reports in response to unique project needs.
- Effectively communicate analysis, trends and risks or concerns with operational performance, impacts or initiatives to stakeholders, including executive audiences.
- Work with core team members to manage inbound workload, gather requirements, and deliver outputs to key stakeholders within Field Operations and cross functionally with other teams.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or another related field
- 3+ years’ experience designing and developing dashboards using Tableau Desktop for various organizational metrics and indicators using best practices and industry standards.
- 3+ years of experience using SQL as an analyst, preferably including some Alteryx experience
- Experience with data processing automation and task scheduling
- Self-starter who works well autonomously and as part of a larger team; demonstrates curiosity to investigate potential business questions proactively.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to take initiative to provide beyond basic responsibilities along with the ability to optimally present to the target audience.
- Experience with Alteryx workflows using multiple data sources, functions/formulas, and macros
- Tableau Certification
- Knowledge of various Business Intelligence platforms (Tableau, Power BI, Oracle OBIEE, etc.)
- Ability to build and execute queries across multiple database platforms (i.e. Oracle, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.)
- Power BI Certification
