Job Responsibilities
Viasat is looking for an energetic and rock star Group Product Manager in the Global Enterprise Mobility segment to lead the definition and roadmap for Mobility Data Platform. Unlock the power in our data.

The data platform team’s mission is to power growth for Viasat through trustworthy data and insights, take data, insights and intelligence to the next level, and deliver personalized experiences to our customers in near real time. The team’s mission is to own Data as a Product – to democratize data via insights and drive rapid growth for the Mobility business.

As a Group Product Manager, you will be responsible for working across business stakeholders, customers and partners, engineering and data experts, marketing and sales. You will partner with engineering teams on unified telemetry collection, data requirements, experimentation scorecards and metric insights. You will help us tackle the problem at scale, manage costs, and be compliant in building out the Mobility Data Platform. You will help us find insights into petabytes of data and help us share insights effectively with partners (1P and 3P). As the product leader, you will be responsible for helping chart the vision and strategy for a broad space and executing on that vision.

You have a strong sense of ownership and accountability. You are a hands-on problem-solver with a positive attitude. You’re a natural collaborator equally comfortable talking tech with developers, and impactful outcomes with sales and customer teams. At Viasat, you must be capable of sorting through many competing priorities, executing with clarity, and succeeding in a complex environment. If that challenge excites you, we’d like to talk with you.

  • Build a scalable, compliant, cost-efficient and performant Mobility Data Platform and tools that can provide rich insights.
  • Engage deeply with partners to achieve shared goals.
  • Our problem space is deeply technical. You don’t have to be an expert but have a strong affinity for technical challenges and diving deep with a passion for data and insights.
  • You will work with a cross functional team, including Finance, to define priorities for investment, strategies for product improvement, delivering at scale, and investing in systems and tools to improve fundamentals.
  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
  • Planning and Execution: Ability to think holistically and strategically. Proven ability to plan, organize and manage complex technical products.
  • Data driven: Skilled at using data to draw insights, answer hard questions, and guide actions and productize into platform and self-serve capabilities. Hands on experience with SQL or using data pipelines is preferable. Depth in driving both product/platform design and business impact is strongly preferred.
  • Communication: Able to conduct insightful conversations with senior business and technical decision makers inside Viasat. Communicate complex ideas to others in a clear, effective and motivating manner.
  • Collaboration: Generous collaborator, able to work effectively across broad teams and influence stakeholders of all levels and of all disciplines across Viasat.
  • Cultural leadership: Ability and passion to lead cultural initiatives in making data a DNA of the organization, having a positive impact on team culture, and fostering an environment of inclusion and respect.
  • Consistently demonstrating executive maturity and intellectual curiosity, helping the team pursue the best ideas.

Requirements
  • 8+ years’ experience in product management.
  • Proven competency in strategic leadership, organizational agility, cross-team collaboration, drive for results, and written and verbal communications.
  • Experience of going through a full product lifecycle, integrating customer feedback into product requirements, driving prioritization and tradeoffs, and pre/post launch execution.
  • Experience building software products with diverse engineering and data teams and stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree, CS or equivalent experience

Preferences
  • Experience with product fundamentals such as platform development, scalability and tools.
  • Experience with Machine Learning (ML) is an added plus.
