Job Responsibilities

As an Associate Manager of Corporate Cost Accounting at Viasat, you will be integral in supporting dynamic growth across the Company and ensuring appropriate accounting. You will be responsible for oversight of staff within a department that handles the global accounting for inventory modules and cost accounting. You will assist in new business model expansion efforts for these areas at the Company and help develop accounting and business processes for these new businesses.  

You will bring expertise in leading teams with varying levels of direct reports and take responsibility for various balance sheet reconciliations, journal entry reviews, internal control and other related processes. You will leverage your GAAP expertise to assist with the review and assessment of financial accounts, research accounting matters and document accounting position papers. You will assist with the preparation of audit schedules and coordinate deliverables to auditors. Because you are a key member of the financial management team, you will communicate across all levels of the organization and help with special projects and internal initiatives that drive improvements while maintaining quality.

Requirements
  • 6+ years of accounting/auditing or relevant experience
  • 3+ years of Big 4 audit experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA License
  • Technical accounting research and documentation skills
  • Self-directed and hands-on, able to work with minimal supervision while balancing and prioritizing competing demands
  • Desires to be a subject matter expert who will be the primary day to day decision maker for the department
  • Advanced people management and leadership skills, ability to develop direct reports and provide direct and actionable feedback
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships with others within and outside the accounting team
  • Challenge existing practices and drive process improvement
  • Enjoys challenges and unfamiliar tasks
  • U.S. Citizenship required

Preferences
  • Large public company (>$1B Revenue) experience
  • Oracle and SAP experience 
  • Manager experience in Big 4 audit
