Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive strategies for government tactical communications supporting supply certainty and supplier performance.
  • Monitor and update business area leaderships on costs, supply risks, and mitigation plans for respective programs.
  • Identify long lead time and buffer stock procurement strategies to mitigate current market supply uncertainties.
  • Integrate with business areas and internal stakeholders as supply chain SME and trustworthy partner for key supply chain decisions.
  • Lead and manage product transfer, outsourcing or resourcing projects to deliver on cost, quality and schedule requirements.
  • Partner with quality and design engineering in managing the qualification of new or alternate suppliers or components to optimize supply risk and costs.
  • Mitigate supply chain risks and deliver preferred supply base solutions by conducting supplier reviews, providing commodity inputs, and communicating commodity plans to stakeholders.
  • Establish commodity/product competency and pricing expertise. Monitor markets and determine strategies for capturing market benefits as well as mitigating market headwinds.
  • Serve as escalation to resolve quality and/or material corrective actions to support business objectives.
  • Ensure early and active involvement with the supply base.
  • Provide analytics and insight to the internal customer.
  • Partner with Planning to analyze demand, historical spend, and forecast trends.
  • Issue RFPs, negotiate, evaluate, and execute contract agreements and purchase orders.
Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with focus in Operations, Supply Chain, or related experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of supply chain experience, ideally in government procurement.
  • Working knowledge of Federal and Defense contracting requirements (DFAR/FAR/ITAR).
  • Direct experience with managing Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) or contract manufacturers.
  • Ability to use advanced concepts and skills as a supply chain professional in an entrepreneurial, high tech environment and in-depth integration experience with Integrated Product Teams along with detailed understanding of business objectives.
  • Experience with contract management, project management, supplier relationship management, and capability to autonomously acquire project technical requirements and translate those requirements into relative supplier terminology.
  • Ability to locate potential suppliers, compare and evaluate in detail, perform sourcing down select activities, and onboard new suppliers by successfully negotiating supplier agreements.
  • Strategic Sourcing skills: SOW Development, Request for Quote/Proposal/Information, Total Cost of Ownership analysis and Supplier Relationship Management.
  • Collaborative ability to support Viasat’s Strategic Sourcing Team and execute high level Supply Chain strategies across multiple technologies and manufacturing processes.
  • Self-starter with the ability to adapt and improve processes and find solutions.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation skills including the ability to influence all levels of internal stakeholders.
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • US government position. US citizenship required.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
Preferences

  • Institute for Supply Management (ISM), Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) certification.
  • Lean Six Sigma Experience or Certification.
  • Experience with PLM, Agile or similar preferred.
