As Viasat’s Global Sourcing Manager, you will lead and manage corporate procurement strategies for direct procurement categories of specialized products and Commercial off-the-Shelf products. You will also lead the material sourcing strategy and activity for specific programs or products. You’ll partner with other functional department managers to establish strategic objectives and provide direction to resolve key tactical, strategic sourcing, and operational issues. You will work on complex functional and corporate level issues requiring detailed analysis and knowledge of the industry, as well as sourcing best practices. Your ability to communicate across all levels internal to Viasat as well as externally with our vendors will be vital to the success of this position.

Job Responsibilities

  • Partner with internal customers to ensure sourcing strategies are aligned with program objective
  • Support growth planning and scalability
  • Ensure early and active involvement with the supply base
  • Provide analytics and insight to the internal customer
  • Partner with Planning to analyze historical spend/forecast spend
  • Maintain day-to-day & strategic supplier and internal customer relationships as the lead point of contact
  • Issue RFP's, negotiate, evaluate, and execute contract agreements and purchase orders
  • Facilitate supplier business reviews and maintain strategic relationships

  • Bachelor’s Degree with focus in Operations, Supply Chain or related experience
  • Ability to use advanced concepts and skills as a supply chain professional in an entrepreneurial, high tech environment and in-depth integration experience with Integrated Product Teams and detailed understanding of business objectives
  • Experience with contract management, project management, and supplier relationship management and capability to autonomously obtain project technical requirements and translate those requirements into relative supplier terminology
  • Ability to locate potential suppliers, compare and evaluate in detail, perform sourcing down-select activities, and onboard new suppliers by optimally negotiating supplier agreements
  • Strategic Sourcing skills: SOW Development, Request for Quote/Proposal/Information, Total Cost of Ownership analysis and Supplier Relationship Management
  • Collaborative ability to support Viasat’s Strategic Sourcing Team and implement high level Supply Chain strategies across multiple technologies and manufacturing processes
  • Self-starter with the ability to adapt, improve processes and find solutions
  • Must have excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation skills including the ability to influence all levels of internal stakeholders
  • MS Office and Major ERP System, including Web-Based Supplier Interface
  • US government position. US citizenship required
  • Ability to travel up to 25%

  • New Product Introduction, Space, Aerospace or Electronics program-related experience
  • Institute for Supply Management (ISM), Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) certification.
  • Lean Six Sigma Experience or Certification
  • Solid understanding of Federal and Defense contracting requirements (DFAR/FAR/ITAR)
  • Experience with Oracle, Agile, PLM or similar preferred
