Job Responsibilities 

As an intern at Viasat Arizona we will strive to provide you with tasking on real programs where your work product will be contributing to the success of the program. You will be working and learning alongside experience engineers and have access to subject matter experts. In general, as a Systems Engineer intern you will have the opportunity to work on state-of-the-art communications systems for commercial and/or government programs.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Support trade studies of system and sub-system architectures
  • Support designing next generation RF and digital satellite communications systems
  • Support conducting performance modeling and analysis of waveform and signal process models
  • Support requirements management
  • Supporting performance analysis of RF transceivers, satellite payload and system integration testing from unit level through in-orbit operation
  • Apply expertise in supporting feasibility studies and developing requests for proposals

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Communications Systems, Signal Process Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related fields
  • U.S. Citizenship Required 
  • Ability to commit to a 10-12 week internship

Preferences:

  • Currently pursuing MS or PhD degree in Communications Systems, Signal Process Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related fields
  • Knowledge of RF circuitry such as PA’s, LNA’s, mixers, and filters.
  • Knowledge of satellite communication system architectures
  • Knowledge of SATCOM waveforms
  • Course work in random processing, communication theory, and spectral analysis
  • Experience with modeling tools such as Mathlab/Simulink and STK
