Job Description

As a flexible member of the Supply Chain team, the Procurement Specialist will be managing the procurement and supply line for key parts and/or services. We are looking for self-motivated and high-energy individuals to support the vital work of diverse Viasat teams through:

  • Procurement and inventory management for user terminal hardware in support of Viasat’s Global and Enterprise Mobility business area.
  • PO placement and tracking to maintain a robust supply chain and mitigating any supply risks
  • Resolve supply issues proactively to ensure forecasted demand and inventory targets are met
  • Present regularly to internal stakeholders and supply chain leadership on the status and issues affecting overall supply line health
  • Collaborating and communicating with suppliers, program management, engineering, supply planning, quality assurance, and others as/if needed
  • Interfacing with key internal stakeholders to understand their sourcing needs, perform market research, and assist in the execution of the procurement strategy
  • Continually monitoring suppliers within assigned areas to achieve procurement targets in price, delivery, and quality
  • Drive supply chain improvements that exceed internal and external customer’s expectations

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Supply Chain, Business, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills
  • The ability to synthesize data in a meaningful way to drive decision making
  • Strong teamwork skills required to effectively work in a matrix environment
  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation skills including the ability to present to Sr. Managers
  • Understanding of supply chain functions and their importance (demand/supply planning, procurement, inventory control)
  • Skilled user of Microsoft Office suite of business software is required: Word, Excel, and Power Point


  • Experience with ERP system, SAP or similar preferred
  • Currently pursuing a double major, additional degree, or minor in a technical related discipline
  • Familiarity working with contract manufacturers 
  • Former work or internship experience in the tech industry and in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of manufacturing and operations management concepts
