As Viasat’s Global Sourcing Manager you will lead and manage Supply Chain strategies for procurement categories of specialized products to support our satellite antenna products. You will also lead the material sourcing strategy and activity for specific programs and products. You’ll partner with other functional department leaders to establish strategic objectives and provide direction to resolve key sourcing issues. You will work on complex functional projects requiring detailed knowledge of best practices for sourcing and procurement. Being a self-starter and the ability to communicate across all levels internal to Viasat as well as externally with our vendors will be vital to the success of this position.

Job Responsibilities

  • Partner with internal customers to ensure sourcing strategies are aligned with program objectives
  • Work as the main point of contact on key projects to manage Supply Chain activities
  • Support growth, scalability, and manufacturing capacity activities with suppliers
  • Ensure early and active involvement with projects to source new suppliers and processes
  • Issue RFP's, negotiate, evaluate, select suppliers, and execute contract agreements and purchase orders
  • Facilitate supplier business reviews and maintain strategic relationships
Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with focus in Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations or similar related experience
  • Experience using advanced concepts and skills as a Supply Chain professional in an entrepreneurial, high tech environment with a detailed understanding of business objectives
  • Experience with procurement procedures, contract management, project management, and supplier relationship management
  • Capability to autonomously obtain project technical requirements and translate those requirements into relative supplier terminology
  • Ability to locate potential suppliers, compare and evaluate in detail, perform sourcing down select activities, and onboard new suppliers by successfully negotiating supplier agreements
  • Strategic Sourcing skills: SOW Development, Request for Quote/Proposal/Information, and Total Cost of Ownership analysis
  • Ability to support Integrated Product Teams and execute high level supply chain strategies across multiple technologies and manufacturing processes
  • Self-starter with the ability to adapt, improve processes, and find solutions to challenges
  • Excellent communication skills including verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to influence all levels of stakeholders
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office, major MRP System, and web-based supplier interface applications
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
Preferences
  • New Product Introduction, Space, Aerospace or Electronics program-related Sourcing experience
  • Institute for Supply Management (ISM), Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) certification.
  • Program/Project Management experience or Certification
  • Lean Six Sigma experience or Certification
  • Working knowledge of Federal and Defense contracting requirements (DFAR/FAR/ITAR)
  • Experience with Oracle, Agile, SAP, PLM or similar preferred
