As an Optomechanical system engineer, you will be involved in fundamental architectural designs with a practical system-level overview. You understand state-of-the-art technologies and are drawn to the challenges associated with them. You have a broad curiosity about R&D, in the current relevant trends in optical communications for space requirements and applications, and are passionate about continuous improvement
- Technical lead responsible for the main interface for the design and development of optomechanical systems
- Supervise and challenge external contractors on technical matters
- Assist with requirements capture and specification definition
- Assist with sensitivity and reliability analysis
- Identify test requirements to evaluate against target use
- Assist with the SWaP analysis
- Based on the design brief, produce concept designs and apply design modifications as required
- Advise on material and sub-components specification, support discussions with vendors as required
- Prepare presentations and reports for both formal and informal design reviews
- Attend design review meetings as required
- Support proof-of-concept experiments and prototype build
- Assist with the optimization of optomechanical design optimization
- MS degree level or PhD
- Space optical communications (payloads and optical ground stations)
- Lasercom system engineering (specifications, design for manufacture, requirements down-flow, test plans)
- Precision optics and fine-mechanics (telescopes, optical sensors, coherent detection, micro photonics)
- Building complex optomechanical apparatus with full actuator SW control
- Optical instrumentation and beams alignment/tracking control for space environment
- Swiss or EU (27) Citizenship required
