As a Business Area Manager within our Advanced Networking and Cybersecurity (ANCS) business, you will lead a business of communications products and services for DoD expeditionary employment.  You will lead a team consisting of program/product management and engineering, and will work across many business functions from business development, finance to operations to drive business execution and growth. You will be responsible for shaping and executing the strategy, engaging with customers to identify and close opportunities, manage development programs and the product portfolio, and drive the technology roadmap and next generation solutions.  The individual must be able to develop compelling, unique and effective value positions to bring to market, demonstrate strong business acumen, and develop effective product strategies with a clear understanding of the customer need and marketplace.  The position requires flexibility in working hands-on to drive successful outcomes, while demonstrating strong influence and leadership skills.    

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ability to lead the development and execution of strategic plans, technology roadmaps, financial forecasting, and discretionary budgets. 
  • Work with business area management in assessing market/product offerings and opportunities, representing overarching viewpoint of the ability of the business area to execute to derived cost/schedule market requirements. Participate in go/no management decisions regarding new products/projects.
  • Overall responsibility for program execution through leadership, program scheduling, financial reporting and budgeting, managing contract deliverables while identifying and mitigating risks, and interfacing with program customers.
  • Display proactive and flexible project-oriented dedication, with ability to both delegate to the team as well as drive down into detail, assisting in areas of weakness.
  • Lead the performance measurement and improvement of our customer’s experience on the Viasat Government Segment.
  • Apply a collaborative/consultative working and leadership style, relying on common sense and personal competence for persuasion and consensus building.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 7+ years’ experience in program and/or business area management delivering integrated products and software development
  • Experience with Agile development framework and practices
  • Management of co-located team over diverse geographical locations
  • Proven ability to manage proposal efforts and participate in ongoing business development
  • Demonstrated ability of full understanding of Profit/Loss Concepts
  • Experience managing different contract types and risk management practices
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Discipline
  • US Citizenship

PREFERENCES:

  • BA/BS degree in Engineering (EE, CE, CS)
  • Masters of Business Administration
  • Experience with DoD expeditionary communication technology and CONOPS
  • Experience with networking technologies
  • Experience with Government systems and service acquisition
  • Experience with EVMS
  • PMP
  • Active DoD US Secret Clearance
