Scope/Purpose of Role
The primary role of the Space Technical Solutions Architect will be the coordination and management of activities in support of industry engagement including with UKSpace, UK Space Agency, TechUK, academia and ESA. The role is to ensure our continued engagement with these entities to develop and deliver on opportunities for Viasat UK within the space sector. This includes establishing relationships with these agencies, managing and supporting bid and funding opportunities, coordinating the various internal parties needed to fulfil any requirement in support of these activities. There is also an opportunity to continue to improve the Viasat UK relationship with our European offices and to work alongside all Viasat to support ESA opportunities.
Additionally, because of the exciting position in which Viasat UK currently operates as a small rapidly growing team, there is the opportunity and requirement to get involved and contribute to a broader range of capabilities within the Space campaign team. There is the real opportunity for a suitably motivated individual to influence and engage, shaping the business development team to drive additional growth and significantly contribute towards the overall success of Viasat UK.
Responsibilities and Duties
• Support the BD Lead in engagement with Industry within the UK Space sector
• Support the Viasat UK activities with the UK Space Agency
• Support the Viasat UK activities with ESA
• Take a lead role for future ESA studies and support funding projects in collaboration
with Viasat’s Europe and US offices
• Represent Viasat on UK Space committees including Space Security and Defence
Committee
• Provide support to the Satellite Applications Catapult and our Harwell campus location
• Support Viasat management with the UK Space industry and BEIS
• Support study and bid development opportunities with ESA
• Drive engagement with UKSpace
• Work with the BD and sales team to maintain key relationships with external
stakeholders other industry partners
In addition, from time to time, the role may include other tasks and responsibilities not
covered above in order to achieve project or business objectives.
Skills / Knowledge / Attributes
You will have a wide experience across the Space and Defence industry and/or government

• Experience in the use, planning and deployment of communication products, systems
and technologies across the Defence and Security community
• Knowledge of UK MOD & Government, ESA and NATO frameworks.
• Knowledge of the UK Space industry and associated collaboration fora
• Proactive in building relationships with ability to listen and capture customer issues,
requirements and plans.
• Proven ability to assimilate and communicate detailed operational & technical
information pertaining to Viasat technologies and capabilities.
• Positive and dynamic approach to problem solving and opportunity management.

Requirements:
• Capable of obtaining (or already hold) security clearance (SC or higher) to work on UK
Government projects
• Existing or demonstrable ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
with the UK Space agencies and industry members, Military and government.
• Excellent communication, organisational, motivational, team-working and IT skills.
• The ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to travel - UK and International.
Preferences:
• A degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline.
• Prioritising and triaging obligations.

• Experience of working in UK Defence and/or Government security markets.
