In Viasat’s Global Networks & Technology, the Access Network team is responsible for connecting millions of users to Viasat’s world class satellite networks, including residential home users in the United States and abroad, airline passengers, government and military personnel, and rural communities. 

Our team develops, deploys, and operates a central component of the Viasat satellite internet ground system. 

In this role, you will...
  • Lead a team that develops and deploys DevOps automation and tools to respond to and prevent production network problems and monitor production network health and performance
  • Gain expertise in Viasat's satellite internet technology and contribute to all aspects of DevOps
  • Troubleshoot and solve complex production network issues.
  • Conduct and lead scheduling of periodic on-call duties using a follow-the-sun model.
  • Help evolve and scale up Viasat DevOps as our network grows and adds new, cutting-edge technology.
  • Work with Software Engineers, Automation Developers, DevOps Engineers, and other team members and members of external teams in an exciting, dynamic environment.
  • Make improvements to tools/processes to reduce toil with other teams in Viasat’s Global Networks & Technology division
  • Create roadmaps, manage product backlog, and managing day-to-day team responsibilities
  • 8+ Years of experience in software development or systems engineering
  • Prior experience leading an Engineering team
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • An active interest in providing guidance to other Engineers
  • Experience with any programming language such as Python, Golang, etc.
  • Experience with Linux systems and Shell/bash scripting
  • Prior experience working in a DevOps environment
  • Interacts with sensitive US Government data; US Citizenship or Permanent Resident required
  • Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with a strong sense of ownership and drive
  • Experience developing dashboards in Splunk, Grafana, or Kibana Experience developing Matlab scripts to parse, extract, and plot data
  • Continuous Integration & Deployment (CI/CD) training or experience
  • Experience working effectively in a DevOps environment
  • Familiarity with deploying and operating software services at scale 
  • Experience with enterprise cloud computing platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, etc.

At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience. For United States-based jobs only: The pay range for this position is $181700 to $292400 annually; however, base pay may vary within this range depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
