As a Lead Business Developer, you will be responsible to:
- Define the business development strategy for Viasat Space&Commercial Networks Europe in order to fulfill Viasat Corporate Global strategy.
- Lead the business development team to develop long term roadmaps together with the different European business units and in alignment with the strategic plans and financial targets.
- Develop new business opportunities internally and externally.
Additional Responsibilities Include:
Create and maintain a market watch for potential new sales in Satcom, RF, and Optical systems for ground and space applications:
- Observing and analyzing Satcom trends in both commercial and institutional markets,
- Leading market research activities,
- Writing business plans and detailed business models (identification of customer need/problem, existing alternatives, proposed solutions, key metrics, unique value proposition, channels, customer segment, cost structure and revenue stream)
- Identifying Satcom and RF/Optical related areas problems to solve (needs for new services, new RF components, etc.).
- support identification of company innovation strategy
Lead new deals:
- Following up with potential clients for new business opportunities.
- Leading proposal preparation for new business opportunities.
- Leading contract negotiations and put in place new contracts with the legal team
- Key partnerships
Control and Monitor progress to achieve planned awards on time and take care of customer satisfaction:
- Assisting management to establish and monitor awards objectives in the Profit and Loss statement (P&L),
- As a “key customer manager” supporting the PMO team to establish, manage, and execute projects in particular for understanding potential additional customer needs that might arise during project execution and for taking care of customer satisfaction
Requirements:
You must be able to lead new business opportunities (study leads) and manage team members, contractual, financial aspects, schedules, and customer relations. You will need to maintain a sufficient level of computer literacy to be able to use collaborative tools and standard project management tools.
You are comfortable working in a team and managing projects rigorously. You are a good communicator, as you can present the results to clients or at conferences with ease. You are proficient in writing reports and simplifying them into presentations. You demonstrate leadership skills, an innovation mindset, consistent delivery, analytical critical thinking, and pragmatism. The capability to manage ambiguities and grit is a must!
- BSc or MSc preferably in aerospace or telecommunications engineering,
- 10+ years of proven experience within the space sector (Satcom, space vehicle or payload design experience),
- Fluent in spoken and written English proficiency and any other languages are a plus
- In addition to strong technical skills, you have good presentation skills, as well as interpersonal skills (soft skills) as the position will require daily collaboration with other Viasat entities (across segments and regions), engineers, and customers,
- Availability to travel and work at our clients' sites,
- Experience in satellites, payloads, communication subsystems, and TT&C data networks,
- Understanding of model-based system engineering techniques,
- Experience with requirements generation and management,
- Understanding of space systems environments, design methodologies, mechanical design, and packaging,
- The ability to lead trade studies and design innovative solutions to difficult technical problems,
- Experience lobbying and networking at the C executives/stakeholder level
- Demonstrated ability to take a satellite systems design concept through the full systems engineering process culminating in successful operations in space,
- Bachelor’s degree in Satellite Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Proven track record of structuring deals that drive financial growth of the business
- A proven track record of multimillion business acquisitions in the Satcom domain
- Ability to work with a multicultural, multidomain virtual team
- Experience working with US and multi-national companies
