As a resource for ViaSat’s Business Reporting Team, you will be responsible for employing creative methods of interpreting, visualizing and reporting of subscriber data. You will collaborate on various projects to enhance our team’s ability to gain key business insights and optimize business decisions. You will work with business areas such as Sales, Marketing, Customer Care and Field Operations to gather requirements and develop relevant reports, dashboards, scorecards, and data visualizations to assist business unit experts on obtaining insights and promote self-service analytics. As a team, we strive to uncover high-impact business opportunities and develop data-driven recommendations.
- Using data mining to extract information from data sets and identify correlations and patterns
- Organizing and transforming information into comprehensible structures
- Using data to predict trends in the customer base and the consumer population as a whole
- Performing statistical analysis of data
- Using tools and techniques to visualize data in easy-to-understand formats, such as diagrams and graphs
- Preparing reports and presenting these to management or clients
- Identifying and recommending new ways to save money by streamlining business processes
- Monitoring data quality and removing corrupt data
- Communicating with stakeholders to understand data content and business requirements
- 3+ years’ experience designing and developing dashboards using Tableau Desktop or Power BI for various organizational metrics and indicators using best practices and industry standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Finance, Computer Science or other related field
- 3+ years of experience working with Business Intelligence, Analytics or Data Warehousing technologies
- Requires a complete understanding of the business intelligence development life cycle including the ability to conduct interviews and gather the needs for desired outcomes for the BI solutions being built.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to take initiative to contribute beyond basic responsibilities along with the ability to effectively present to the target audience.
- Analyzes complex business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources to provide insight to decision-makers.
- Identifies and interprets trends and patterns in datasets to locate influences.
- Constructs forecasts, recommendations and strategic/tactical plans based on business data and market knowledge.
- Knowledge of various Business Intelligence platforms (i.e. Oracle OBIEE, Tableau, Power BI, Microstrategy, etc.)
- Ability to create and execute queries across multiple database platforms (i.e. Oracle, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.)
- Experience with automation of data processing and task scheduling
