Job Responsibilities
In this role, you will manage engineering projects to deliver satellite communications system equipment and services for airline connectivity, along with technical support. Your responsibilities will include: ensuring customer technical requirements are met for the integration of satellite communication equipment (including modems, antennas, power supplies, radomes, and passenger user interface software) onto aircraft platforms; ensuring the integration hardware and software is installable, and supportable; ensuring technical communication between internal teams, suppliers, and customers; ensuring successful on aircraft testing and prototype installations; and developing and maintaining technical documentation. In this role you will work directly with the customer, the FAA/ODA and the engineering integrator to design and implement and maintain an STC approved in-flight connectivity installation. In addition, you will have the opportunity to apply your project engineering and communication skills to a multi-function engineering team with both verbal and written interactions between the customer, partners, and Viasat senior leadership

Requirements
• 5+ years experience, 2-4 years in project and/or systems engineering
• Ability to oversee all engineering disciplines in a project such as mechanical, electrical, software, etc..
• Experience working on multi-disciplined FAA/EASA STC certification projects. 
• Experience interfacing with FAA ACO, ODA, DER, DAR’s etc. 
• Experience with systems requirements management and communication to multiple parties
• Ability to manage technical risk
• Highly Organized individual with excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills. 
• Ability to perform project and resource planning.
• Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline
• Ability to travel up to 15% - 20%

Preferences
• Master’s degree in an engineering discipline
• Experience with aircraft systems, avionics, and wiring
• Experience with system integration and on aircraft testing. 
• Understanding of 14 CFR PART 25/26/145 to develop approaches to address certification challenges and manage certification of STC projects
• Experience with change control and document management processes
• Knowledge of satellite communication, LAN and WAN networking
• Experience with VSAT or mobile satcom technologies
• Experience with IP networking , WiFi systems and traffic management
• Experience working with or at minimum an understanding of RTCA-DO-160/178
• Experience working with or at minimum an understanding of ARINC 429/600/791
