Job Responsibilities

The Network Engineer provides technical support to our Tier 1 Service Provider customers in all aspects of the operation of their network. This includes participation in implementation, testing, and troubleshooting activities as well as network configuration, debugging, and optimization.  As a member of the Global Connectivity team, you will work with the customer to understand their problems, reproduce them in the lab, and drive them to resolution. Your ability to troubleshoot and tune component hardware and software for secure and efficient network operation will be invaluable.  Your skills in scripting, traffic generator setup and operation, and use of network tools are critical in the creation of test environments used to resolve customer issues. Your applied knowledge of Network protocols such as MPLS, VPN, BGP, VLAN, IS-IS, and Network-based Security practices are important skills for this role.

You will be a member of teams that fix complex data network and hardware problems.  You will be empowered to research technological advancements and evaluate complex data networking technologies to understand their potential and to recommend future direction.

  • Australian Citizenship or Australian Permanent Resident Required
  • Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Communication Engineering, Network Engineering or related field
  • Hands-on experience in implementing and troubleshooting IP/MPLS, Network routing, Network switching, and Datacenter technologies for a Service Provider environment in a lab or production network
  • Experience with scripting (Python, Bash, TCL, expect, etc.)
  • High-level knowledge of Network hardware and software
  • Experience in creating and building test plans and procedures for test environments
  • Ability to understand end-to-end systems and solve issues
  • Ability to comprehend complex system architectures and collaborate with others to create approaches to test them
  • Thorough understanding of Networking (switches, routers, firewalls)
  • Understanding of network automation and python experience 
  • Some experience with AI or Machine Learning an advantage
  • Knowledge of Traffic Generation tools and their setup and operation (including Spirent, IXIA or similar tools)
  • Basic understanding of RF measurement techniques
