Viasat’s engineering organization is growing, and we are looking for a motivated and adaptable individual to support the corporate engineering leadership team. The main function of the role will be to provide insights into the functioning of our organization and to support new initiatives and decisions with rigorous analysis and prediction techniques. The role provides an opportunity to work with senior leadership across the company, including our global teams.
Job Responsibilities
Special projects and strategy:
- Perform analytics to give insights and predict future performance on a variety of people and resource topics including employee satisfaction, hiring, retention, career progression, talent, team productivity, and overall company resource efficiency.
- Define performance metrics at product, service, team, and individual levels. Implement dashboards for executives to gain insight into the effectiveness and customer centricity of our resources.
- Work with engineering leadership to develop various engineering performance metrics and ensure that teams receive regular feedback on performance, both at the team and individual levels, and that follow up coaching/education is provided where necessary
- Design surveys to be given across the company on a regular basis to attain valuable data for analytics on employee-centric issues including job satisfaction, retention, and management structure issues
- Develop models to predict the future state of various business functions including hiring, retention, and training
- Work with the People & Culture team and engineering leadership providing data analytics on effectiveness of hiring and onboarding of engineers
- Develop and review various internal communications of analytic results – drafting documents and presentations for a variety of stakeholders including senior executives.
- Create and update dashboards for reviewing company KPIs.
Requirements
- 3 years of data modelling and analytic experience
- Strong knowledge of statistical methods
- Design of surveys and experiments
- Metric development and display through dashboarding tools
- Strong empathy, interpersonal skills, transparent, collaborative, and curious.
- Demonstrates strong problem-solving ability and is comfortable working in the presence of ambiguity.
- Ability to work independently and accurately set priorities.
- Has a strong results-oriented mindset that prioritizes progress over perfection. Has a strong sense of ownership.
- A confident communicator across all business segments and employee levels.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Some travel required
- Master's degree
- Experience with Jypiter and Python
