Job Description

Viasat has a diverse portfolio of fast-growing businesses with a range of strategic opportunities that require analysis, evaluation, and execution. The Corporate Development team leads the identification, evaluation, and execution of strategic initiatives that drive Viasat’s growth. Strategic Finance, which is a part of Viasat’s Corporate Development team, sits at the intersection of strategy, technology, and finance.

The Strategic Finance Associate will work closely with leaders from across the company to turn ideas into tangible business plans with executable strategies. Your analysis will help drive investment decisions in established and emerging markets, and you will have the opportunity to work directly with external customers to support deal negotiations.

The Strategic Finance Associate will be a key team member on a variety of strategic deals, including investments, acquisitions (M&A), and partnerships. In this role, you will engage in an exciting array of high-value opportunities with significant access to key senior leadership. The role is fast-paced, unstructured, and involves working with executive leadership who make major strategic decisions based on the analysis performed by the Strategic Finance Associate.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in the identification, evaluation, and execution of strategic opportunities. This role will be responsible for:
  • Building detailed financial valuation models, including DCF, project NPV, sensitivity analyses, etc.
  • Presenting to Viasat’s senior leadership team
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand quantitative and qualitative drivers to financial and strategic evaluation

Requirements

  • 3+ years of comprehensive industry experience with 2+ of those years being in a financial valuation modeling role such as investment banking, consulting, venture capital, private equity, corporate strategy, and/or corporate development
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Advanced Excel modeling skills and a proven track record of creating complex valuation models that have been used to influence executive-level decisions
  • Experience presenting complex strategic business concepts to senior leadership
  • May require some international travel on a project-by-project basis.

  • Self-starter mentality, with a willingness to independently identify and solve problems

  • Comfortable openly sharing and debating ideas.
