Job Responsibilities

s a Viasat VAST Engineering Technician you will assemble, integrate and test commercial and military antenna products. This may include conducting antenna characterization measurements including: axial ratio, gain, G/T, isolation, passive intermodulation, performance of temperature, phase matching, polarization, RF power handling, radiation patterns and return loss/VSWR. You will participate in engineering development processes from conducting laboratory measurements and experiments, documenting design changes and improvements and documenting test setups and results. Throughout this process, you will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and operations to coordinate materials and resources and achieve task objectives. There may be occasional travel to customer sites for installation, testing and/or troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • 3 or more years of experience in a technical field, preferably in the field of antennas and RF systems
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (Associates Degree in Electronics Technology preferred)
  • Ability to independently work on complex assignments delegated by engineering team members.
  • Takes initiative to resolve issues and makes recommendations for process improvements.
  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Thorough knowledge of file and data management methods used in an engineering/development work environment.
  • Ability to follow written test procedures and update procedures when needed.
  • US Citizenship is required
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
  • Ability to work 2nd or 3rd shift if required
  • Able to lift 40lbs
  • This is an FAA safety sensitive position. Participation in our Drug-Alcohol program is required.

Preferences

·       Experience with RF and Antenna testing equipment such as vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, power meters, and signal generators.

·       Ability to write MATLAB, LabVIEW, or Visual Basic scripts to do basic data manipulation and reports.
