Life at Viasat
“Always a better way” guides everything we do
Who we are
Our values are embedded in our culture and serve as guiding principles for how we operate day to day as one team. Our culture of innovation drives us to take on and solve the toughest connectivity challenges.
We make decisions and set priorities based on what’s best for the company as a whole. Those priorities change and evolve over time depending on our competitive environment, our progress, and our financial constraints.
We want to grow and achieve our goals. We accept and relish the challenge that entails. We understand how hard it’s going to be, but we’re too driven to settle for less.
The scale and scope of what we are doing is too broad to be achieved without teamwork. We have to trust that our teammates are on our side – doing what they think is best for the company as a whole, not just for them or their part of the organization. That doesn’t mean we blindly accept each other’s views. We can argue, sometimes intensely, but we start by trusting that our co-workers have the company’s best interest at heart. We in turn recognize and appreciate the trust others place in us and do our best to uphold it. Then, we give each other freedom and opportunity to learn and grow.
Our world is changing – fast. We have to accept, and embrace, all the uncertainty that entails. We’re confident, but not over-confident. We know we can change and adapt when we need or want to.
We are curious about why things are the way they are. We bring a passion for learning, innovation, and exploration to do everything we do.
At Viasat you’ll get to
Work on collaborative teams
“The global aspect of Viasat in serving and connecting people around the world is super important to me personally, so that’s what drew me to the company,” she said. “What’s had me stay here over time has been the culture and the people, how we interact as a team and solve problems together.” – Jessica, director of aircraft engineering & certification
Design your ideal career
“After completing my internship at Viasat, I knew Viasat had the work environment I wanted. I also knew I wanted to complete my CPA license and Viasat offered me the financing to complete it while working full-time. I was the first to complete Viasat’s Corporate Accounting Rotational Program, spending six months working on four teams: Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Internal Audit, and Revenue Recognition. Today, I’m a part of the Internal Audit team where I can touch all Viasat business areas in a unique way, which makes every day interesting.” – Lucy, internal auditor
Work on global challenges
“Viasat launched its residential service in Spain in 2018, using capacity on the KA-SAT satellite. I spoke with a woman who had no alternative whatsoever. She had to drive an hour whenever she wanted to do a video call with clients. For her, the value of high- quality broadband wasn’t about price – it was what allowed her to keep her livelihood. That’s a very real problem, and to know we were able to resolve it is very fulfilling. It also allowed a lot of people who used to live in the city for work to move back to their hometowns, closer to their families. To me, it was really powerful to know our service gave them freedom to do that.” – Javier, country manager
Give back to your community
“We're investing deeply in transformative impact with our nonprofit partners around the world. We've provided the tools, but we'd be leaving them hanging if we didn't equip them with the skills needed to use the technology they've never had access to. The expertise and skills of our employees are as valuable as the internet we donate, and our employees can achieve incredible outcomes on behalf of Viasat while developing their leadership skills.” – Mark, social impact program manager
And be authentically you
“My leaders in corporate security are also a huge reason for me feeling at home at this company. I’ve never felt like I’ve had to make myself palatable in regard to how I wear my hair, dress, or even speak — as many Black women often do. I’ve been supported, respected, and appreciated for my contributions, and they’ve enabled my development. Most importantly, my leaders are invested in learning why diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) are vital not only to the success of the company, but to the sense of belonging for their employees like me. When I’ve shared my unique experiences, specifically at Viasat, they don’t deny what they’ve heard or question the plausibility; they absorb it as a lesson. I’m thankful for that.” – Mallory, security project manager
