As part of this fast-paced Government Care Center Operations team, you will get to work with cutting edge technology on a daily basis as you directly support our VIP customers to troubleshoot complex hardware, software, networking, and configurations issues.  Using your keen technical analysis skills and quick on-your-feet adeptness, you will perform proactive maintenance as well as deploy new systems and features across the globe.  You are a problem solver with sharp attention to detail and the ability to create a paper trail for others to follow.  Your technical skills allow you to resolve issues that puzzle others, with timely response times and quality solutions.

This is an entry-level Aviation Network Technician position which monitors, troubleshoots and maintains the Viasat proprietary system on VIP aircraft as well as the associated satellite and ground network systems to ensure 100% reliability and customer satisfaction. Technicians interface with on board personnel and service providers around the world to perform these duties. The role is intended to become a springboard into more experienced level roles, supervisory positions and other career tracks both in and outside of Viasat.

What you'll be doing

  • Provide support and assistance for VIP aircraft monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Participates in additional support functions related to NOC and Operations department as needed

This position can be located in either Carlsbad, CA or Denver, CO

  • 2+ years’ experience in managing and troubleshooting both hardware and software elements involved in IP networking, satellite communications, and/or cloud services  
  • 3+ years’ experience in a Technical Support or NOC role
  • Prior experience working with Linux/Unix 
  • Prior experience with RF Satellite or Wireless Communication systems 
  • Associates Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Information Technology, or comparable work/military experience
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule in a 24x7 environment
  • Experience with the use of Network Monitoring Systems 
  • US Government position. US Citizenship required
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance or ability to obtain when administratively feasible

    • 2+ years working with RF or satellite communications 
    • Linux + certification
    • Prior experience with CRM and defect tracking systems, such as Salesforce or JIRA 
    • LDAP Experience
    • Familiarity with UNIX/LINUX configuration, and ability to capture and interpret network traces strongly preferred
    • Candidates must be comfortable working as part of a distributed global team. Prior experience working in a remote/virtual team is a plus
    • Ability to travel up to 10%

    If the Federal Executive Order for Government Contractors becomes effective, this role may require vaccination.  In such instance, absent an approved accommodation based on a religious or medical reason, employees in this role will be required to be fully vaccinated no later than applicable deadlines, which are unknown at this point.  Viasat will strive to give individuals as much notice as practicable if a vaccine mandate becomes applicable to this role.

The starting salary for this position is $22.48 hourly, but an offered salary may be higher depending on your skills, qualifications, and experience.
