Our team is partnering with the railroads to digitize their operations.  As a member of our Enterprise, Land-Mobility (ELM) Team, you’ll build a breadth of knowledge on the entire software engineering DevOps life cycle, from user journeys to the deployment of IoT and satellite data-driven dashboards.  This team will interact with our engineers, business leaders, and rail customers to solve challenging problems through innovation and automation.  Our ideal candidates value curiosity, learning, creativity, a team mentality, and adaptability. 

This project is focused on defining and prototyping the dashboard needs for our rail customers to manage their IoT devices across all of their fixed and mobile operations.  Having a customer-centric viewpoint and the desire to provide a solution our customers will love is a large part of this team.  You will directly impact  Viasat by exposing significant (and unexpected) relationships and data to our rail partners and us. 

Specific technologies, techniques, and processes include AWS, CI/CD, mode.js, Looks/LookML, Python, Java, REACT, Swagger, Scrum, and data modeling.


  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Human Factors, or related field
  • Experience with programming languages/frameworks: Python or  Java, Javascript, HTML, CSS
  • Previous internship, work, or project experience related to UX


  • Work experience in a customer service centric environment
  • Experience with programming languages/frameworks: NodeJS, Angular, React, SQL
  • Prior work or project experience using Lint, Salesforce, CI/CD
  • Experience with development tools such as: Amazon Web Services, Artifactory, Jenkins
  • Coursework or experience related to UI, UX, CX, requirements capture and implementation of prototypes. 
  • Project or working experience related to web programming, design, human interface design, art, and writing
