Job Responsibilities

This job involves working with Defence Satellite Communications, particularly UHF SATCOM systems. In this role you will be the “go-to” person for on-site installation, troubleshooting, and test and training of UHF SATCOM systems and equipment. This includes providing product support for SATCOM systems delivered to the Australian Government. You will fill a pivotal role in ViaSat’s growth in Australia and be involved in proposals, development, test and deployment of systems and equipment. To accomplish this, you will work with local and overseas Viasat engineers from multiple disciplines and teams. You will provide primary technical support to customers via phone and email, as well as on-site support. In addition to creating and updating training material, user manuals and other related documentation, you will also provide marketing demonstration support to current and potential customers. This opportunity is based in Canberra, ACT with up to 50% of your time travelling the country, supporting ADF technicians. Your travel will include trips to New Zealand and the United States for both technical support and training.

Requirements
  • 4+ years’ experience with ADF military SATCOM systems, including DAMA UHF SATCOM systems
  • Working knowledge of SATCOM TDMA theory, RF, Antennas, test methods and standard test
  • equipment such as spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope and multi-meter
  • Experience developing technical user documentation
  • Experience delivering Technical Training
  • Ability to pass skills testing for grip and static strength, dynamic lifting and work/positional tolerance
  • Associate degree or certificate in a technical discipline or equivalent job experience
  • Australian Citizen with active Australian Government Secret Clearance (NV1) or have held one previously
  • Ability to travel up to 50% to domestic and international locations
