Location:

This team typically works out of the Carlsbad office location. If you are offered a full-time opportunity after the internship concludes, you may be required to relocate in the future. Please consider your interest in this location for future opportunities when you apply.

Job Responsibilities:

As an IT Technical Writer Intern, you will work closely with the IT Technical Writer to support the IT communications strategy that includes email communications, announcements, and other communication mediums. You will also work collaboratively with SMEs, project managers, and other stakeholders to produce quick start guides, Knowledge Base articles, Wiki content, procedures, FAQs, policies, and other end-user documentation for a variety of software and browser-based applications. You will also need experience implementing and applying internal style guides and templates when crafting documentation as well as demonstrating the understanding of style, grammar, spelling, usage, audience, and purpose.

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to simplify sophisticated topics into easy-to-read documentation for multiple audience types
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to accept and incorporate feedback from multiple stakeholders

Preferences:

  • Familiar with Confluence, SharePoint, Acrobat Pro, Publisher, and Visio
  • Familiar with Adobe Photoshop
  • Experience with Mac systems
  • Willing and able to provide effective training sessions in a variety of formal and informal presentation settings: one-on-one, small and large groups
